Attractive surroundings for industrial diligence
PolanenPark is plugging itself more strongly than ever as a high-quality location for companies whose operations have a heavier impact on the environment but which also value quality. Following far-reaching clean-up and restructuring operations, the park, which is strategically located adjacent to the A9 motorway and the Rottepolderplein intersection, is ready to be built on. The future looks bright. Not lastly because there are possibilities for naturally integrating PolanenPark in a (future) environment bursting with culture and natural beauty. Project manager Reinoud Fleurke of SADC gives us the low-down.
'Radiaal West'
The city of Amsterdam is expanding more and more outwards along a number of spokes emanating from its centre, with residents tending to follow the enterprises which are leading the way. The West urban district has included this westward movement in a development vision: the ‘Radiaal West’ (the west radial). In this vision, the green ‘culture zone’ of Westergasfabriek up to and including Sugar City will be developed into the future Bretten Park, a kind of Central Park along which Amsterdam residents will soon be able to live and work. The green, recreational, but also economic, spokes will eventually be extended right up to the coast.
The quality of PolanenPark exudes landscape
PolanenPark is very strategically located in that westward line and could play a major role as a landscape park for manufacturing companies that value an extraordinary environment. The Spaarnwoude recreational area is nearby, as is the coast and the city. Concealed by reeds, beautiful forts are situated to the west of the park. In bygone days, these forts were part of the Stelling van Amsterdam (Defence Line of Amsterdam); they are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is water, there is space. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and the Port of Amsterdam are within easy reach. And with its high level of quality, PolanenPark blends effortlessly into this environment. For a former waste dump, this is a quite a place!
Connections with the environment offer opportunities for PolanenPark
“Bringing into sharper focus the proposition represented by PolanenPark – as well the target groups the park appeals to – has made it clear to everyone how beautiful the surroundings actually are and what wonderful opportunities await anyone who chooses to locate in this high-quality industrial-commercial park.”
There is now a greater emphasis on the beautiful raised view over the A200 to the green buffer formed by the municipalities of Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude and the park’s correspondence with the forts and the nature in the immediate surroundings. “With the development of the entire area, we are now emphasising the quality much more. And we are consciously seeking the synergy with the whole coastward movement of the city of Amsterdam.”
